Food Service Establishment Permits

You must obtain a Permit from the Health Department to sell food to the public. You must complete an application, pay the appropriate fee, and meet all requirements for a retail food establishment. Click here to print permit application.

Food Establishment Requirements

Every Retail Food Establishment is required to have a copy of Indiana State Department of Health Rule on site. Click here to download or print Title 410 IAC 7-24, Retail Food Establishment Sanitation Requirements.

Food Handler Resources

Most Retail Food Establishments need a certified food handler to oversee food safety. Click here to view Title 410 IAC 7-22, Certification of Food Handler Requirements.

Anyone can be certified by completing a short class and passing the requisite test. Click here for a list of certification providers. When finding a certification provider, make sure the certification is from one of three accredited testing organizations, ServSafe, National Registry, or Prometric.
