
Residential Onsite Sewage System Permits
Septic permits are required in order to make repairs on an existing system, replace an existing system, or install a new system.
To obtain a permit, you need to:
1. complete and return a septic permit application and pay the required fee. (Click here for septic permit application.)
2. hire a soil scientist to test your soil and send a soil report to the Health Department. (Click here for list of local soil scientists.)
3. hire a septic installer who will do the work and be in contact with the Health Department for final inspection. (Click here for list of local septic installers.)
Residential Onsite Sewage System Requirements
Every Residential Onsite Sewage System is required to meet State regulated standards and County Ordinances.
***Note: Anyone whose home is not connected to a municipal sewage treatment facility must comply with Rule 410 IAC 6-8.2.
